Pepapp is a digital assistant designed for women. It provides them with tools to track their menstrual cycles, manage symptoms, and support pregnancy journeys. It also includes daily horoscopes and access to lifestyle content, all of which work in sync with Apple Health.
Handling refund notifications from Apple’s App Store manually
Since 2016, Pepapp has empowered over 5 million women to manage their health with tools like menstrual calendars and pregnancy tracking. But as their app grew, so did their subscription challenges, particularly around handling refund requests from Apple’s App Store.
Each refund request required Pepapp’s team to manually compile and submit detailed consumption data to Apple within 12 hours. Missing the deadline or submitting inaccurate data meant losing revenue. Even when the data showed users had fully consumed the service, Apple often approved refunds without further explanation. The team had no control over the process.
Automating refund request management with Adapty’s Refund Saver
Pepapp was already using Adapty to manage its app monetization. So when we launched Refund Saver, it was an easy decision for their team. It addressed the exact challenges they faced as a small team: saving time, reducing manual work, and preventing further lost revenue.
Here’s how easy it was to set up:
Step 1: They complied with Apple’s requirements
Pepapp first made sure that its privacy policy was up-to-date. Then, they integrated in-app prompts to receive explicit consent from users to share their data with the App Store through the Server Notifications V2.
Step 2: They enabled Refund Saver
With everything set, the team activated Refund Saver directly from the Adapty dashboard. No additional code was required.
Step 3: Refund Saver connected directly to the Apple API
Once enabled, Refund Saver took over the entire refund process. It automatically detected refund requests as they came in. It then compiled and submitted accurate consumption data to Apple, on time, every time.
Getting a 400% ROI on Adapty’s subscription
Developing an in-house solution would have required significant time, technical expertise, and ongoing maintenance – resources that Pepapp knew were better spent improving their product. Instead, with just one click in Adapty’s dashboard, they switched on Refund Saver and saw immediate results.
In just 7 days, Pepapp earned nearly triple the cost of their Adapty subscription in profit.
