- Cut the refund rate by 40%
- Added $2,500+ to the daily revenue
- Saved over $75,000 monthly
Refunds are the silent revenue killer no one likes to talk about. They drain your profits, mess with your plans, and leave you wondering what went wrong.
One of our customers, Fotorama, felt this pain deeply – they were losing thousands every month to refunds. But things changed when they turned on Adapty’s Refund Saver, an automated refund management feature.
The real problem with refunds
Refunds are a normal part of running an app, but they can quickly become a headache if not handled well.
When a user requests a refund, the App Store gives developers 12 hours to provide user activity data via the Server Notifications API. If you miss the deadline, Apple will likely refund automatically.
Until recently, this process applied only to in-app purchases. However, as of April 2024, Apple expanded this to include all types of app transactions. This means developers now have the opportunity to respond to any refund request with user activity data.
Staying on top of refund requests is no longer optional; it’s critical to protecting your revenue.
Adapty’s Refund Saver
The Fotorama team decided to enable Adapty’s Refund Saver to make managing refunds faster, simpler, and more effective.
Here’s how it helped:
- Adapty handled refund requests automatically, sending detailed user data to Apple within the 12-hour deadline.
- With the right data, Apple rejected more unfair refund requests, saving the team money.
- The team no longer had to stress over every refund and could finally focus on growing their app.
The results
With Adapty’s help, Fotorama saw incredible results in just a few weeks:
- The refund rate was reduced by 40%.
- Daily revenue grew by $2,500+, without any increase in installs.
- The team saved over $75,000 monthly.
How you can do the same
Setting it up is ridiculously easy:
- Go to your Adapty dashboard.
- Turn on Adapty Refund Saver.
- Let Adapty connect with Apple’s API and take over.
That’s it. Refunds go down. Revenue goes up. You keep growing.
Refunds don’t have to hurt your app anymore.
